Transferring an already registered domain name involves switching the registrar that provides the domain registration service, so after the transfer, you will have to manage things like renewal payments or DNS entry modifications through the new company. The transfer procedure is standard with most generic and country-code Top-Level Domain extensions. Some country-code extensions are more specific and entail different steps, but in the general case transferring a domain name entails a few basic procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain name. The domain lock is a safety option, which is being embraced by more and more domain name registry organizations. It’s a default feature supported by all generic Top-Level Domains. If a domain name is locked, it will not be possible to start a transfer procedure, so nobody can even try to steal your domain name. The domain lock can be removed only through the account where the domain name is registered and all new domain names that support this feature are locked by default the moment they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Shared Hosting

With a shared plan from us, you’ll exert absolute control over your domain names through our in-house created Hepsia Control Panel. You will be able to do anything you’d like, including locking & unlocking any of the domain names registered through us, on the condition that the specific generic or country-code domain name extension supports this feature. Clicking the padlock icon that you’ll find next to any domain name registered in your Control Panel will show you its present status and clicking it for the second time will allow you to change that status. If you’d like to transfer a domain name to another domain name registrar, you can initiate the procedure right away. Since unlocking a domain through your Control Panel will take effect instantaneously, no propagation time or any action on our end will be needed. Locking a domain name is just as easy – you will just have to follow the very same steps.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

Locking or unlocking any domain registered through our company is extremely easy and can be done through the Hepsia Control Panel – the one via which you manage your semi-dedicated server. You will see all your domains in the Registered Domains section and those whose extensions support the registrar lock option will have a padlock-like icon on their right. You can unlock any domain by clicking on its icon and since the update will take effect straight away, you’ll be able to start the domain name transfer process without the need to wait for the lock status to change on WHOIS websites. If you change your mind and choose not to transfer the domain away from us, locking it again will be just as easy and will not take more than a few mouse clicks in your Control Panel.
